PIPRA wins the Vadian Innovation Prize, Dec 2023
Building Bridges between Science and Healthcare Prevention
CDHI and KSSG award the Digital Health VADIAN Innovation Prize for the third time
St. Gallen, December 01, 2023 – Under the title "Closing the Gap between Science and Routine Health Care Delivery - the Art of Implementation," the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen (KSSG) organized a symposium on November 30, 2023, to promote the transfer of the latest scientific findings into daily clinical practice. As part of the event, in collaboration with the Centre for Digital Health Interventions (CDHI), the "Digital Health VADIAN Innovation Prize" was awarded for the third time to a particularly innovative startup.
Switzerland holds a leading position in medical research and innovation, but the implementation of these findings into the daily healthcare of the population remains a challenge. To shed light on the art of implementation in healthcare, KSSG and its partners organized a one-day national symposium in St. Gallen. The diverse program was compiled by experts from KSSG, CDHI, Empa/ETH, the Swiss Lung League as a patient organization, and the Mayo Clinic. The symposium aimed to highlight opportunities and challenges of digital health interventions. The organizers contribute significantly to a user-friendly, secure, patient-centered, and comprehensive Digital Health concept in Switzerland. In addition to insights into the basics of implementation science through presentations from research and practice, workshops were offered to discuss the priorities to be set for the national healthcare industry.
Prof. Martin Brutsche describes the importance of the event as follows: "Without implementation, the best research brings no benefit to the general public. With the symposium and the awarding of the 'Digital Health VADIAN Innovation Prize,' we want to showcase solutions, connect implementation partners, and provide a platform for start-ups in the digital health sector."
PIPRA wins the Digital Health VADIAN Innovation Prize 2023
Also part of the event was the awarding of the third Digital Health VADIAN Innovation Prize. The five Digital Health start-ups Neuria, Carity, Skaaltec, PIPRA, and Sawera Health had the opportunity on Thursday to present their business ideas to a high-profile jury and the participants of the symposium. After a head-to-head race, PIPRA was ultimately awarded the Innovation Prize in the third edition of the competition. The Swiss start-up develops digital tools for the better prediction, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of delirium. PIPRA follows Sleepiz (winner in 2019) and Snaq (winner in 2021). The next award ceremony is planned for the year 2025.
